サンクスギウィング ブレーク

サンクスギウィングに　わたしの　ともだちは　ふだり　ニュヨークへ　きました。　ともだち　と　いっしょに　ニュヨークで　たくさんの　ところを　みました。　

月曜日に　ともだちは　ひとり　ここへ　着ました。　いっしょに　コロネツへ　ピッザを　たべに　いきました。　あれは　ピッザが　いちばん　おおきいです。　セントラー　パークへも　いきました。



火曜日に　ダウンータウンへ　さんぽしに　いきました。　ロカフェラー　プラザを　みました。　NBCの　ビルも　みました。　ばんごはんを　五十みちの　チカン　ライス　カーとで　たべました。　ニュヨークで　やすいインドりょり　のなかで　チカン　ライスが　いちばん　おいしいです。　でも　チリソースが　ありますから　とても　からいです。



火曜日のばん、　チャイナ　タウンへ　いきました。　ベトナム　りょりを　たべました。　わたしと　ともだちは　ベトナム　りょりが　すきですが、　この　フォウは　あまり　おいしくなかったです。

水曜日に　かわった　ともだちは　きました。　TOM'S　レストランへ　ばんごはんにいきました。　あそこは　SEINFELDの　レストラン　ですよ。　とても　ゆめいなレストラン　です　そして　あまり　たかくないです。　TOM'Sの　ブロードワイ　ミルクシャキ　（BROADWAY　MILKSHAKE）が　いちばん　おいしい　です。



木曜日は　サンクスギウィングでした。　わたしと　ともだちは　タルキイを　たべたかったです　から　ウェストサイド　スーパーへ　タルキイを　かいに　いきました。　あれは　とても　おおきい　タルキイが　ありました。　さんにんだけ　でしたから　タルキイを　あまり　おおきくなかった　かいました、　でも　おなかが　すきました　から　あまり　ちさくなかった　かいました。　それから　おいしいばんごはんを　たべました。　それから　おもしろい　えいがを　ペン　ステーシャンで　みました。


金曜日に　はくぶつかんへ　いきました。


金曜日の　ばん　ロカフェラー　センターで　二時間　アイススケートしました。　それから　タイムズ　スクエーアを　あるいて　みました。　とても　つかれました！　でも、　ねませんでした！　ともだちと　くうこうへ　ごぜん　四時に　いきたかったです　から。　ともだちは　ひとり　アリゾナーへ　かえりました。　わたしと　かわった　ともだちは　へやへ　かえりました　そして　ねました！




土曜日の　ばん　ブロードワイ　ショーを　みに　いきました。　それは　AVENUE　Q　でした。　とても　たのしかったです。　たくさん　だいがくの　がくせいが　いました。




日曜日に　ともだちは　テキサスへ　かえりました。　サンクスギウィング　ブレークは　とても　たのしかったです！！！

Katakana Project

これわ　カタカナ　プロージェクトの　１st　page　です。　おなまえは　’カタナーサカナ’　です。

The literal translation of カタナーサカナ is "swordfish" and that is the main character of my comic. I am still working on the back story, the events leading up to this opening scene. I know roughly how I want this to go, but I have been playing around with a few different ideas.

Everything takes place under water in a busy corral reef city, modeled after a city like とうきょう. However it is set in the feudal system era.

二十ねんごのわたし

二十ねんごの　わたしは　ぶつりの　けんきゅうしゃ　です、　それとも　エンジニア　です。　フランスで　ITERの　しゃいｎです　から、　うちは　フランスの　マルセイに　あるます。　ITERは　”International Themonuclear Experimental Reactor”　です。　それは　たくさんの　くにに　ありますから　りょこうを　たくさんします。　一週間に　四かい　かいしゃへ　くるまで　いきます。　

かぞくは　わたしと　つまと　こどもが　さんにんと　いぬが　いっぴき　います。　つまは　スペイン人　です、　マルセイ　びょういんの　いしゃ　です。　わたしは　くるまと　エンジニアリングが　すきですから、　ガレージが　あります。　いろいろな　じどうしゃは　ガレージの　なかに　あります。　くるまの　なかで　アウデイが　いちばん　すきですから　それが　たくさんあります。

Katakana Analysis

When Katakana was first introduced to me, it was presented as a means of writing loanwords in Japanese. Over the course of this past year, I have learned that the Katakana script is used in more situations besides just writing borrowed foreign words.

浜田先生　taught us that long ago, Hiragana was used by women while Katakana was used by men. This was an interesting bit of information. I tried to see if this had had any effect on today's use of Katakana but I could not find any correlations.

However, I found that nearly every Japanese company writes its own name in Katakana. For instance:
"Sony Corporation" は　日本語で　ソニ　です。　http://www.sony.co.jp/　これを　みってください。

Also, sometimes the names of shows are written in Katakana, even when the name of the show might be composed entirely of Japanese words:




サムライ　チャンプル　は　アニメ　ですよ。　It is set in the ええどう　era of Japan, a time when the society was feudal. Given what 浜田先生 had said about Katakana being used by men and Hiragana by women, I thought it might be insightful to see if there was any mention of that in this show. In an episode of the show, one of the characters is learning to read. However, he is taught in Hiragana instead of Katakana. Evidently the show is not that detail oriented, but then again i suppose it is very anachronistic as well.

So based on this analysis I can add to the list of Katakana uses the category of Proper Nouns (of businesses, titles, products).
